Mediterranean Dinner

This weekend we ended up making
 a simple dinner,
so we could relax after working
in the garden all day.
I found this new French Brie at Costco.
Trader Joe's has a great variety
 of different fresh breads.
Some fresh apricots, dates, brie, asiago pressato, olives, cashews, Italian salami wrapped around breadsticks.
I love Ina Garten's Fruit Crostata, the recipe is in her "Barefoot Contessa at Home" cookbook.
It's a simple recipe just right for not
spending a lot of time in the kitchen.
It looks so pretty before cooking.
It's a perfect dessert for a holiday weekend!

~Clematis in Bloom~

Our clematis finally bloomed this weekend.
It has the most delicate flower.
This one was a nice surprise under our sink.
They never last very long.
That way I enjoy it even more.
It looks so pretty next to the sink Stan made me.
With all my collectibles it stands out.

~Petite Parmesan Crisp Salad & A Latte~

I wanted a small salad with a different twist to it.
Out came the parmesan cheese.
I grated about 1/2 cup and placed heaping
tablespoons on parchment paper.
Cook at 400 degrees for about 3-5 minutes.
When they come out they're very hot so be careful. I place them on small shot glasses and mold them over. You could probably place them in a muffin tin but I just like the way they look on the glasses.
I put small amounts of mixed greens with olive oil and avocado.
It's a perfect size for a little bite.
Of course, always room for a latte.
Love my French canisters.
Hope you like the little bite
Parmesan Salads!

~Lemon Cake & Strawberries from the Garden~

I love Lemons and got out the recipe books.
There's something wonderful about
 how
 Lemons taste.
Ina Garten has a delightful cookbook
~Barefoot Contessa at Home~
~I made the Lemon Yogurt Cake for dessert~
It was a beautiful night, so we sat outside. Of course, with Lemons everywhere on the table.
The main course was Chicken Piccata.
I used the recipe from Barefoot Contessa at Home.
~Delicious Dinner~
We have so many strawberries growing now, we picked some to eat with the cake.
My little girl figurine
holding a strawberry flower.
There's nothing like fresh
 strawberries from the garden.

~Garden Finds~

I found a teapot and used it in a planter
to hold my jute and scissors. Very handy.
A thrift store basket with dried
flowers welcomes you into the garden.
Some old shutters used as a tabletop.
Our potting table with old tiles added for accent.
A cup used for a pot as a centerpiece.
An old arch used to hold up a wreath.
A screen door found at a salvage store gives the garden some whimzy.
I used a pot upside down to hold a mosaic table.
Finding things to repurpose is a fun thing to do.

Our Edible Weeping Mulberry Tree

Our Edible Weeping Mulberry is just starting to produce berries.
Every year in Spring we look
forward to eating fresh berries.
As soon as we see new foliage
we know the fruit will come.

~Then Red~

~This year we'll make lots of fresh salads with fresh fruit~
